Ponce, Puerto Rico

Logbook 1/11/07
Ponce Yacht & Fishing Club
Ponce, Puerto Rico
Finally!! A couple days of winds at 10 knots allowed the seas to flatten out & let Hullabaloo run at 21 knots. Left Ocean World Marina at daybreak & ran 215 nautical miles to Isla Mona (in the treacherous Mona Passage between Dominican Republic & Puerto Rico). Arrived at the reef anchorage by the ranger station 1 hour before sunset. The usually deserted beach was filled with tents of wild boar hunters from Puerto Rico. It’s an annual season like deer season in Virginia. A great excuse for the guys to get together & drink beer and bullshit. Left at first light & ran to Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico, then along the southern coast to Ponce.
Fair weather & following seas,
