Hurricane Sandy

Hopetown, Elbow Cay, Abaco, Bahamas














Hurricane Sandy slammed Hopetown with 118 mph winds early Friday morning. Most of the guests for Amy & Cullen's wedding had departed, but Homey & Karen, Tim & Stephanie, Amy & Cullen, Gary & Faye had to ride out the storm at Hopetown Harbour Lodge. Hullabaloo was on a mooring in the harbor with double lines, chafe protection and an extra anchor out. All communication lost since Thursday night. No power, no phone lines, no internet and no cell tower. The lodge had an emergency generator so we had a Hurricane Sandy Party. Played cards, drank rum and told lies.

We have a Delorme inReach 2 way satellite communicator with GPS. When traveling, we will activate tracking so that there is a record of what our position is hourly. You can check online to see where we are.
