Day 17 - Cripple Creek, Colorado and Golden, Colorado

Drove 1 1/2 hours up into the mountains to check out Cripple Creek. Lots of history and a scenic little town but it has been taken over by casinos. almost every other building is a casino!!! Most businesses closed or vacant. Cut that short and headed 2 hours north to Golden, CO. Last I was in Golden was 1966. Denver Broncos training camp at Colorado School of Mines. Campus has changed tremendously and the stadium was revamped. Went to check out Coors Brewery. Back in 1966, Coors was only sold in Colorado. It was a local brewery that made unpasteurized beer that could not be transported out of state. The football players that had very little money (I was one) would walk down to the brewery and take the tour. Free beer afterwards!
