Getting Ready
Hullabaloo's Travels
October 10, 2006
Faye & Gary have been busy since Gary's retirement on July 1st. Getting the boat ready for a 2500 mile trip to her new home in St. Lucia, West Indies has been quite a task. She is currently "on the rail" at White Point Marina in Kinsale, Virginia. Getting new mattress & settee cushions done. New carpets for the salon & traffic areas. Brightwork touched up & new bottom paint. Repairs to the windlass & davit winch. Routine maintenance to the engine & generator. Want to have everything looking good & in top working order. Trying to get repairs done while underway is a hassle at best. Trying to get it done on isolated islands along the way can be extremely difficult or impossible.
We have also been busy getting the new house in St. Lucia ready for us & for the boat. We have a great couple looking over things for us there. Alex & Philippa Sammy are a real help in getting things done. We're looking forward to spending 1/2 the year in St. Lucia & cruising the Grenadines and other local islands.
Wanted to set this blog up to post a log of our travels for friends & family. Save to favorites if you want to check on our progress. We will have limited access to the internet for updates so it may be a week or two between entries. We are really excited about this "dream trip" and we're glad we can share thoughts & photos with you.
We depart November 1st. Can't wait to get on the water & start our adventure.
Fair weather & following seas,
Gary & Faye
